Refreshing a True Scottish Icon
Tennent’s Lager, Scotland’s best-selling beer brand, is renowned for its iconic can. To secure its position as the nation’s most beloved lager, we partnered with Tennent’s to create a new, modern visual identity that reflects its heritage while looking to the future.
The redesign, the first since 2018, builds on Wellpark Brewery’s historic place in Scottish culture and its position as the founder of Scotland’s original pilsner, brewed on the same site since 1885. We drew inspiration from Tennent’s brewery operations, its pride in Scotland, and its commitment to sustainable practices and community involvement.
The new identity highlights the quality of Tennent’s Lager with a richer yellow and bolder red “T” brandmark on the can. The existing keylines around the “T” have been embellished with a bevelled detail for added depth and craft. The new brand identity also includes limited-edition glassware featuring illustrations by Tobias Hall. New markers in the barley motif, along with the retained Hugh Tennent signature, tell the story of the quality and skill that bring the lager to life and re-energize the brand.
